Root Canal

Among our many general dental services, root canal treatments are a valuable dental procedure in which the diseased or damaged nerve of a tooth is removed so that the tooth can be saved or restored. The root canal is performed to prevent tooth extraction when the inner, soft tissue of a tooth becomes infected or inflamed. Once we remove the harmed tissue, we carefully fill the canal, seal it, and crown it to protect the tooth and restore its functionality. Signs you may need root canal treatment include pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, tenderness to touch and chewing, and discoloration of the tooth. In some cases, we may refer patients out to an endodontist who is specialized on treating complex root canal cases.

Is a root canal a painful procedure?
No! Local anesthetics and advanced equipment in modern dentistry assist root canal procedures and make them an extremely manageable procedure.

How do I know if a root canal is the right treatment for my tooth?
If the remaining tooth structure is sufficient to support and to preserve your natural tooth in your mouth with a crown after removing decayed and damaged tooth structures, a root canal procedure is probably the right treatment for the tooth.
